To the Bull & Gate

Years ago this was just fields …

As late as 1840, Kentish Town was a half-rural village with a thriving community of artists and engravers, and the pub was a coaching inn. It was re-built in 1871 as a grand gin palace and has remained a thriving part of the community ever since.
Of course you can’t really talk about the history of the Bull & Gate without mentioning live music. The pub was a major player in the 1980’s indie music scene with every unsigned band wanting to to be seen and heard here as it was the best place to be spotted. Many an iconic bands including Suede, Jesus Jones, PJ Harvey, Keane and the Manic Street Preachers have performed at the Bull & Gate and Timebox, the legendary indie night held in the pub, helping to launch the careers of Blur, Coldplay and many more.

Gem from Oasis even worked behind the bar before hitting the big time with the band, and, whilst we can’t promise you a beer poured by him now, we can guarantee you the friendliest team in Kentish town, fresh seasonal food, a fantastic selection of drinks including the finest cask ales, craft beers, carefully selected wines and an extensive choice of spirits.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy your time in a piece of London’s history - The Bull & Gate.
